DPT – Doctorate of Physical Therapy
Marissa is a licensed physical therapist at our Byron Center clinic. She has had the privilege of practicing physical therapy for 10+ years. She began her journey by attaining her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Cornerstone University in 2003. After working as an exercise technician for 3 years, she went back to school at Grand Valley State University for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.
Since then, Marissa has primarily treated patients in outpatient and home care settings. With a passion for continually learning and growing as a therapist, she has taken many continuing education courses that have helped develop her collaborative, whole-person treatment approach. Marissa specializes in women’s health and is level 2 certified through the APTA. She has experience treating women with pelvic pain, urinary urgency and frequency, stress urinary incontinence, interstitial cystitis, chronic constipation, coccyx dysfunction, pregnancy, and postpartum-related issues. She has also treated a large spectrum of orthopedic diagnoses over the years and continues to enjoy the variety.
When not practicing PT, Marissa loves to spend time with her husband, two children, and pets. She enjoys playing games, being active in her church, volunteering at her children’s school, and finding the enjoyment of life in the little things.

They were very patient and in tune with my concerns and helpful in explaining what the different exercises were and how they would help me. I’m now at a place with my recovery where I am able to continue on my own. My whole experience was very positive.
